    Reposition Z-Axis limit switch?

I may need to move the lower Z axis limit switch up on the machine further. Actually need to get it way up closer to the top of the machine (say 2 feet higher than it's current position)

Has anyone done this? Is there any reason why it shouldn't be moved?
    Just looking for input
    Thanks

You want to move the Lower limit switch 2 feet up, and have it close to the Upper limit switch?
So, you'll only have an inch or two of travel between them in Z ?
I'm guessing you're going to run a really tall part, and don't want it crashing?
I'm pretty sure you can place the limit switches wherever you want them, as long as the wiring reaches.

    Yeah sounds weird doesn't it.
Actually I was thinking of moving the switch up and the trip ramp up as well (and over to avoid the upper limit switch) somehow. I haven't measured it out yet but I need to get it above the bottom of the head when it's in the higher position if that makes sense.

Just looked at a picture of a series 3 machine and can't see the lower switch, Did they move it to the other side or something?

    Edit
Reading up it looks like they have eliminated the lower switch all together now. Since it's only ever going to trip is the spindle hit the table / ran out of travel I guess many other things would hit way before that so it's not really needed at all.

Maybe rather than moving I'll remove it also

Just heard back from Tormach (guys must not sleep or there's a bigger time difference than I thought), Looks like it's fine to remove all together, problem solved and a lot less work than repositioning it.
It's great when something actually works in my favor once in awhile:banana:
