Is there a variable feed option in a canned drilling cycle

I was approached today by one of the MA's in the shop and asked if there is a way to vary the feed rate in a canned cycle in the Siemen's 840D controls. What he is looking for is a cycle 81 process that we can feed a little slower into the part. Then when the drill is fully engauged in the cut speed the feed rate up. We do not want to stop the tool pressure or break the chips. I know that this could be done with G1 moves but that would add a bunch of info to the main program. Well, any thoughts on this??? Thanks

There is not a way to vary the feed rate within a cycle. In the more recent HMI (SINUMERIK Operate), there are ways to define different optimal speed profiles in conjunction with the machining method (roughing, pre-finishing, finishing) which can be adjusted easily with the function “HighSpeed settings”

That is what I was thinking. By what I had found there was nothing available within the canned cycles. It looks like G1 moves for us. Thanks
