Hi everyone,

I'm very new to CNC machines and electronics in general and have been having a difficult time determining which size power supply to use for my set up. I've got an eshapeoko kit with dual Y-axis drives, a Gecko G540 and these stepper motors:

Three (2 Y-axis, 1 X-axis) NEMA23 4 wire Bipolar rated at 1.7A
NEMA-23 Bipolar 50mm Stepper - 0.9° Step Angle

One (Z-axis) NEMA17 4 wire Bipolar rated at 2.4A
NEMA-17 Bipolar 48mm Stepper - 0.9° Step Angle

If I'm reading correctly, I'd need at least a 5A power supply (((1.7 x 3) + 2.4)) x .667) Is that correct?

And what about the voltage? Eztronics suggests 24V for the NEMA23's but that seems low. Would 36V run too hot?

Cheers,
Shawn
