Newbie : Mating a new part to a cylinder?

I'm trying to mate 2 parts together simply because I cannot work out how to make this as one part.

It's basically a rectangular part that needs to mate to a cylinder but I need to do it in a way that I can fillet the join?

I've probably gone about it all wrong, any help much appreciated.

There are several ways to do this. You can mate them together in an assembly or in a part (using insert body), or make it as a single part. I would say it's easiest to make it as a single part. Can you post the two part files here? It would be easier to show you how to do it than explain.

I've asked the same Qu at Grabcad, files are available there : https://grabcad.com/questions/how-to...-to-a-cylinder
