I got Sprutcam 8 with my used 1100. I read somewhere, and Tormach's site seems to confirm it, that Tormach went back to supplying Sprutcam 7.

If there was something wrong with the original version of Sprutcam 8, is it now fixed?

In other words, am I OK to learn and use 8, or should I look at going back to 7 (if I can! - I believe the dongles are different).

SprutCAM is rumored to be just around the corner, so you might want to check into that as well.

I had trouble with a v8 interim upgrade and Tormach backed me to an earlier version of 8, and I used the same dongle I had for 7. Note though that the files are different and v8 files are not readable by v7. Also, there isn't a huge difference between the two - particularly if you are just starting out.

8 works GREAT for me. I love the 4th axis capabilities, and I even use it for my lathe work.

I notice that there are two sets of post files on the Tormach website. How can I tell which version of Sprut 8 I have(pcnc only or all post)? Perhaps it doesn't matter if - as in my case - I only need the Tormach postprocessor file, but I don't know.

There are 2 types of post processor files. 1 is plain text, one is encrypted. If it loaded the plain-text version, you have the all-posts version.
