Hitachi WJ200 in Simple POsitioning Mode?

    Greets -

Has anyone been using a WJ200 VFD with an external encoder in the Simple Positioning Mode? My understanding from the manual, is that the [SPD] logic input toggles the mode (velocity or position), and velocity mode is pretty easy to understand (via analog input or modbus, for example), but how is the position target commanded? Is it strictly a "hold here" mode, or something else? I'm interested in this drive for rigid tapping and spindle orient, so it's not going to run by itself; encoder position would be run back to LCNC as a control, which would also provide the command signal. This is for an actual spindle, so free-running velocity mode would also be necessary (by, I assume, triggering [SPD] mode.....)

Actual in-use examples with hookup / settings would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Ted

I know this is dragging up an old thread, but did you ever figure anything out with the Simple Positioning on the Hitachi drive? I was just starting to dig into it.
