    Where to get steppers

I'm looking to build a small NC machine, but I'm not sure where to find (cheap) steppers. Are there any favorite places? I noticed some people using HP III steppers, are those bought seperate, or do they get an old printer and take them out?

    Thanks

I tested 34H2160-50-8. At low speeds is good with little instabilities at about 30 rpms. Midband resonances appear at 280 to 330 rpms. Torque drops rapidly above 800 rpm. I drove it up to 2500 rpms. it was a limit speed.

Thanks Mardus . For 30 rpm do you mean low freq resonance ?

Midband resonance is very bad thing, but this one is not so bad, only I can feel and hear it, but not affect on torque too much. As I remember it is some kind of midband subharmonics.....or ...?
