    VMC Tapping

    Hi
I'm required to do some tapping on my old Dah Lih MCV1000 with Fanuc 10M but am a little unsure about things:
I expected to do it as on my old 0TA lathe with an extension tap holder and G33 with the in-feed lead reduced by a few per cent and out-feed at nominal. But G33 is not available to me and I think G84 should be used instead.
Does G84 allow for this difference in in/out leads and if not is it a problem?

Or is G84 more suited to rigid tapping? I don't have a manual for this machine and it'll be difficult to find if I need to use a M29-type code for synchronization.

    Also is a switch to mm/rev (G95 ???) straightforward?

    Regards
    Rob

The 10m uses G84. G84 Z R F. Feed is rpm times pitch in either inches or mm per minute.
