newbie here, I have been learning the cad and cam software and have cut a few thing s out. I am to the point that the machine is doing what I thought it was going to do. up until now I have been using end mills and vcarve bits and have not had to enter any new tools into aspire. I just got a set of taper ball nose bits in and I need enter them as new tools. the following is the information provided by the bit manufacture:
•Tool Type: Tapered Ball Nose
•Shank Diameter = 0.250"
•Half angle ◦0.0313in. (1/32in.) dia. tip - 6.2°
◦0.0625in. (1/16in.) dia. tip - 5.4°
◦0.1250in. (1/8in.) dia. tip - 3.6°
◦0.2498in. (1/4in.) dia. tip - 0.10°
•Tip radius = nominal ±0.001"
•Stepdown = Depth per Pass, use 2 X tip diameter for roughing (clearance) and 0.10 X tip diameter for final cleanup
•Depth of Cut (DOC) = 1.074"
•Stepover (for final cleanup pass) = 0.10 X tip diameter
•Stepover (for roughing, clearance pass) = 0.25 to 0.40 X tip diameter
•Spindle RPM (SPEED) = 5 KRPM to 60 KRPM
•Feedrate (IPM) = Depends on the material being cut. Do the Sweetspot Test before setting this parameter
(go to: Calibrating Feeds and Speeds with Carbide Microtools).
•Plunge rate = 10 IPM to 25 IPM (again depending on material being cut)
My problem is that the terminology is not 1-1 with aspire. if someone could teach me what information applies to what box in aspire I would appreciate it very much. here is a screen capture of the software:
