Question HELP!! Looking for proper geometry definition for teeth design

    Hello Everyone,

I am a new assistant working using SolidCAM in the machine shop at my University. I have done a few weeks of SolidCAM studies. I am attempting to generate a program for a tooth design. The tooth height is roughly .5 mm and I am cutting with a 1/8" end mill. I am struggling to set up the pocket/geometry for the iroughing operation. I have attached a pdf with my best attempt so far. So far, I have attempted to cut just a few of the teeth. I did point-to-point for the small loops (to cut the teeth), and auto constant z for the big loop (to cut the excess stock above the target). The assumption here is that I have a bit of extra stock extending in the +z direction (see grey box) and I want to cut the teeth pattern into the stock. I have attached a pdf with images of the setup I did for geometry/pockets so far. At your earliest convenience, please take a look and let me know if you have suggestions.

What kind of machine are you using? the flats don't look flat to the stock. are you setting the part at an angle or flat to the table?

I would use open pockets. Approching from outside.
