    Segmented Corners

    Hello,

I have a minor problem when cornering on my mill. Sometimes depending on the corner radius and speed (.25 radius at 15 IPM) I get segmented corners instead of being smooth. You can feel the servo making jerky moves on these corners. I am using KMCNC and have played with the trajectory settings but maybe I have missed the correct combination or setting altogether. I have considered that this may be a servo tuning issue as well but jogging seems to be smooth and trouble free. Anyone have any advice on this?

    Thanks.

    Hi Epiphany

What is the GCode doing? A G2/G3 Arc? Or line segments? Can you see segments in the GCode Viewer? (You will need to run not simulate). What are your TP Settings?

    Tom,

    Thanks for the reply.

Can you see segments in the GCode Viewer?
The G code viewer does not show segments. (I ran the machine with no tool to verify)

    What are your TP Settings?
    Break Angle- 5
    Look Ahead- .5
    Collinear Tolerance- .001
    Corner Tolerance- .0001
    Facet Angle- 5

Here is snippet of the code I am running.

    Tom,

    Sorry been out of town.

    What Version are you running?
    4.31s

Are you selecting "Arcs to Segments" ?
    No, this is not selected.

    Try Setting:

    Collinear Tolerance- .0001
    Facet Angle- 1
This worked fantastic. Thanks so much.

This machine is so much more user friendly now its amazing and now has rigid tapping to boot. Great product and support.

Getting ready to start the next machine. Mori Seiki SL1 lathe. What is the current status of the single point threading, is the canned cycle supported or will this have to be done in C?

    Single Point Threading with KMotionCNC

    Hi Epiphany,

KMotionCNC Version 4.32a supports G32 for single point Threading. You shouldn't need any C Programming. But not yet G76.

    please see this post.

    Leo made a video. See:

More work is needed to make KMotionCNC more Lathe friendly. But the basic functionality is working.
