    Whats wrong in these pics

    Hi all
Either I'm missing something in 25 yrs manual machining conversion to cnc just lately or they have this wrong

If you use Advanced rough > leads you have PLUNGE or you tick check box for centre cutting tool and get RAMP etc.

My point you can't plunge with a NON centre cutting tool
P.S. I wonder if this was fixed in Build 1335
The more I learn, the more I find there is to learn
    Regards Nick

Okay, don't go and get all logical on us here!!!!!!

Just wish the people who programmed this stuff consulted with and actual machinists on this and other software.

Well, everyone needs a laugh once in a while.

Yeah, I think they still have that screwed up in 1335. I'm just glad I don't need the check mark button for either one to be easily selected. If I would have had to check the box for center cutting just so I could select the ramp option it would be annoying quickly.

I would not be surprised if no one has reported it.

In some materials and/or for some jobs one may wish to run a roughing feature to shift the majority of the waste utilising a centre-cutting tool, I've used plunge in roughing passes for wood, wax and plastic, better to have the option than not,

Hi magicniner Khalid I think you may be missing my point I have no problem plunging a center cutting tool but in this feature plunging is default try plunging a non center cutting 63mm insert face mill
    into any thing :nono:

Okay..your concern is right.. However, you can plunge that tool (63mm) but keep the plunge feed turtle-slow ... But at higher feed you can damage the tool/workpiece/spindle/machine...never ever try

Yeah, that would be interesting but whatever the default it would be wrong for most of the people some of the time and for some of the people most of the time ;-)

The reason I missed your point is that I think about and actively choose the tool entry method and parameters for each feature, as appropriate for the job, material and tooling.

The solution to this for people that need one is not the default favoured option of any individual or group, the solution is no default at all and a mandatory choice between the available options before they can move on,
    Regards,
    Nick

You can plunge an inserted face mill?
I've got plenty of water, do you do the wine trick too? ;-)

    Ozcad,

It may not be clear based on the images in the tool path wizard, but the application of the tool path does align with what you've learned over you 27 years.

This is what the help files have to say on this topic.

If you un check center cutting tool even though the entry is set to plunge, in this case it means to start off the work piece. I've created a short video to help clear up how this feature works. If there are any additional questions on this topic please let me know.

    On a lighter side

    Hello Nick,

So I talked with development and suggested we use the following image in the 3 axis tool path wizard for advance milling leads options.

Do you think this image would better explain how you thought this feature works?

That's a great tip Al. I guess I've misunderstood what it meant all this time.

I just played around with it a bit and NOW it suddenly works just like I'd expect it Thanks for clearing that up.

The video was great, but is that new picture an endmill and hair or smoke?

Maybe we could get the option to set our own images for the operations...

    I would use this one:
