    my original plan was to swap out the electrics and job done but seeing how easy it was to remove the screws I may as well replace them with ball screws.

    Dont do it. These machines are extremely accurate as they are. Test it with the mechanicals it has. If it doesnt meet your needs, update it.
    A lazy man does it twice.

    the new ball screws are on there way and I had them leave extra on the shaft for pulleys
    have you turned anything on yours yet?
