New Quirk = Spindle running SLOW, at wong RPM??

Alright, this has happened to me about three times now.
My 770 has ran the spindle at the WRONG RPM on three different occasions.
It apparently happens when the machine is 'cold', for example, on the first run of a program after start-up in the morning.
The programmed RPM was 2000, but after the M3 S2000 I noticed the spindle turning SLOOOOWWW.. So I looked at the monitor, and the actual RPM was 175.
Programmed for 2000, but turns on to 175?
On another occasion, the same thing happened on tool #3, AFTER the first two tools ran at their correct RPM's.
    What's gives?

This happens on my 1100/2:3 upgrade occasionally and unreproducibly. So far, always on a cold start of both Mach and machine. Manual spindle speed control is fine. Only cure I've found is to shut the machine down and restart Mach. Occasionally -very rarely- needs a second restart, but usually one gets it. I've concluded it's simply a failure to initialize some part of the Mach/machine interface, and since it's pretty rare, just ignore it. Haven't ever seen it if the initial S word is read correctly on subsequent speed changes.

Something like that happens to me on my 1100 on a manual tool change, apparently because I've inadvertently double-pressed the Enter key to resume the program. It's apparently a Mach3 glitch.

Is it possible that you are seeing the same thing?

    Hi,

Are you stepping through your program line by line ?

I run the 770 and have busted a few tools with this happening! I feel your pain.

My best guess is that it is like already a suggested a double key press it seems to happen for example when it hasnt finished making it to the specified rpm in the program. I changed the way I operate and only step through line by line when I really have. I am also very deliberate and slow to start the program off I.e, it runs the program then pauses at a the tool change, I give it a few seconds before hitting enter, and have my hand next to the emergency stop button.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers

I didn't need to shut down MACH.
I just hit FEEDHOLD when I saw the slow RPM, then reset the program. That fixed the problem.
Second time running the program, everything was correct.
Yesterday I started up the machine, wrote a new program and it ran perfectly. No glitches.
    Damn Gremlins. :tired:

I have also had this happen!
Double key press was the reason.
    What I call pebkac errors.
pebkac = problem exists between keyboard and chair

I had it happen once too. Didn't find the cause.
Shut down the machine and rebooted the computer and it ran fine.
    Haven't seen it again.
