    Milling a surface a casting

    Hi All,

I got madcam on rhino and I can do basics with both, however I try to program out the surface I want to cut. The basic layout is 60x40x1.5 with 4 square sections cut out like a window frame. I called tech support for Madcam and had it explained to me, but I lost my notes and I can't remember how to make it work. I need to mill about 50 gates and risers off one of the surfaces that are about .450 tall off the main surface that I need finished. I just need to program around the outside edges and the middle of the frame. Every time I try to work it out it always try's to mill the entire surface even though visually I have the surface removed. I tried doing a cap surface, but it never seemed to work. Any idea's how I can make it work right?

Seeing what you are trying to do would be helpful. Can you post the file, or at least a screen capture of your part?
