What does "Channel" do in Siemens control?

    Hello,

I am very new to Siemens control. By reading through the manual, I always encounter a term "Channel". What does this channel do in siemens control? The most information I can find is that each channel works as an independent NC. However, why do we need multiple channels? What kind of jobs will need multiple channels?

    Thanks in advance

    Stephan

There are many reasons to have multiple channels. For example, machines with dual spindles would use two channels to allow simultaneous machining with both spindles.

Yep, we have one machine with 10 spindles.....so we use 11 channels. 10 for the spindles 1 Master
