Hi there,

I'm trying to select a suitable replacement VFD for the spindle motor in my Denford Orac. I believe the motor is 240V 1/2 HP, and I'm in the UK, so need to power this off 220VAC, single phase. I'm planning to get something with slightly higher power output because upgrading the motor is definitely on the agenda at some point. I also intend to control speed via the 0-10V output on my BOB. I've found a few candidate VFDs but would appreciate any advice about their suitability as I don't really have any expertise with this kind of thing. Here's what I've found:

Sykoo 1.5kW VFD
Unbranded Chinese 2.2kW VFD
Jaguar 1.5kW inverter

I'd go for the first one but I'm just slightly concerned about going for a cheap Chinese one.

Any advice or comments is gratefully received!

You mean like this for example? I looked into those but they seem much more expensive. If at all possible I'd to keep the cost down!

I had picked up one of the cheaper Huanyang variety to experiment with and am not really impressed, If I were buying on a tight budget, I would prefer to look for a good used or NIB well known make off ebay such as Telemecanique Altivar, Mitsubishi, Allen-Bradley or one of the other high end VFD's. Often get them for the same price as the Chinese ver.

I absolutely agree with Al; get used or NOS if price is issue but stay away from the chinese junk (I blieve the jaguar is the same chinese junk with another name?).

I retrofit machines and good budget options are vfds from taiwan as Delta or Cutes
