    DRO Connector Compatibility

Hello I was wondering if anyone would now if I bought Scales with round connetors on them for a mitutoyo DRO if I could cut the connectors off and put on DB-9 connectors for an acu-rite DRO, their like rs232 connectors.
    Thank you, Scott

Depends what the pinouts REALLY are.

I've seen cases where a DB25 or DB9 connector had a jury rigged pin out that could fool you.

Yoiu may want to try the Shumatech website for more information on pin-out from chineese scales. I build one of their homebrews for my small mill and it works flawlessly. It's really a nice unit.
    Hope this helps!

Not so much if the connector is compatible as much as if the scale is compatible, as long as you can identify/distinguish the different signals & pin outs, most scales use 5v line-driver standard.
Some have an extra pair for a fiducial marker, eqivalent to the Z marker pulse on a rotary encoder, but only occurs at one end of the scale.
