Hello, I have a colchester CNC lathe with fanuc control I want to retrofit. The question is can I use the Fanuc model 5 motors with a AMC BE25A20 servo drive? is it other drive that would suit this motors?

Unfortunately No.
You either need a convertor for the Fanuc proprietary commutation or change the encoders to BLDC type.

Hello, thanks for the reply, I was thinking of use the AMT303 encoders from CUI INC for conmutation, but my question is what is the difference if there is any between an AC Servomotor as says in Fanuc motor and a BLDC motor as says in AMC driver. Is the same an AC servomotor and a BLDC?
Fanuc have a proprietary pseudo sine wave commutation, there is a member here that makes a convertor.
I have tested the CUI BLDC encoders and they have very inconsistent results.
Fanuc run them as AC sinusoidal servo's as opposed to BLDC, they will run in BLDC with the right convertor/encoder.
