Hi guys, my belt drive is about to ship from ArizonaVideo.

He recommended AC bearings, specifically the Koyo or Nachi 7206 BGC3.

His mail seemed to indicate that they come as a set 7206/7207
Found one on amazon

Found a bunch more on ebay... I think my search is getting close to fruition.

Where did you guys source your bearings for the belt drive conversions?
For this purpose are there material differences between the million different types of 7206 and 7207?

Anyone have luck with the Nachi ? Found those here:

I have the nachi bearings from amazon, they seem to work well so far.

They have a good selection and decent prices. If you need to talk with someone face to face, your best bet is to find your local bearing supplier (like BDI).

Thanks guys. I have some koyo bearings in hand now.

Do I need any particular kind of grease, or can I get some grease from ace hardware?
If it matters, desired RPM was between 6 and 7k.

I would use a high speed bearing grease. Kluber and Dow Corning both come to mind.

In fact I think I would use a high speed bearing grease on any spindle rebuild. The typical wheel bearing in a car doesn't turn over 1000 RPM for most of its lifetime. Maybe a compact with 13" wheels that is speeding does. While I am sure that wheel bearing grease or other automotive grease would last for a while, the high speed bearing greases are formulated to run at the much higher speeds.

There is a reason cars run oils in their high speed parts instead of grease. (actually a lot of reasons, but in this context...)
