    Question Visual Mill 6

    Hi Guys and Gals,

I am trying to get my CNc Mill to perform a circle in the Y and Z axis without moving the X axis.

I have generated a circle to use as the region but instead on cutting around the circle I get a slit along the y Axis. (No travel in either the X or the Z axis)

How do I get it to perform this task.

    Thanks

    Prboz

Why do you want to do that? Have you got your stock mounted vertically, and a right-angle spindle?

    Not really,

I am setting up a hotwire to cut a cone from foam for a model jet. I wanted to hold the wire still at one end and use the y and z axis to cut the shape of the fuselage it needs to marry up too.

    Regards

What tool path are you using? Sounds like you need to use the engraving tool path so the tool just blindly follows whatever curve you draw.

I don't see how that would work, at least not all in one go. How about setting the foam on a rotary table and rotating it against a wire shaped to your curve?
