We work on our Bude with SolidCAM.
Does this software offers a module or alike to run program directly from the server?
I don’t mean play the whole program on the machine but the machine gets the program in pieces from the server.
Has this technique got a name? I can’t find it anyway.

It has less to do with the CAM software.
It has more to do with the machine controller ... what controller do you have?

Some time ago the DNC mode was called the downloading mode. Because the CNC controller did not have enough working memory, it was possible to load bigger NC programs with it. One needed a corresponding software on the server side. As well as a controller that supports DNC!
(e.g..: DPC11 + Deckel Dialog11)
Do you have big program? Do you work in the mould making area? Some people think that a sudden disruption of the data flow has unexpected consequences! Getting back into is is not always easy.
My tip:
1.)Upgrade working memory (if possible)
2.)Set up programs into blocks e.g. tool related or operation related
3.) Save the current program (PGM-blocks) on the machine and its leave it like that- I would deposit everything else somewhere else...
SolidCAM doesn’t supported it
