    Hello everyone

    My question:
    Does anybody know if polygon milling is possible to do on a Hardinge GS 250 turning machine with Fanuc Oi-TD controller?

    If yes, how?

    And if I don’t have manual guide?
    Can I simply program it on the machine?

    Can’t anticipate that... not even with a ball....

    How well is your machine equipped?
    Y-axis?
    C-axis?
    Powered tools?

    How familiar are you with the controller and the machine?
    What manual have you got- do you have any manuals to the controller and the machine?

    The machine doesn’t have a Y axis but a C axis.
    Powered tools: yes

    I do hexagon milling on the face side but now i also want to mill a hexagon on the side of the jacket. However I can only do that with a polygon milling tool.

    Could you give me a sample program?

    If the multi-edge-profile is not too far away from the work piece zero point then you can also do it with abutting face cycle and T keyway cutter.

    Without Y axis a proper hexagon can only be achieved in the way InTex described it.
    With the Polygonal turning, a special tool is run in a spindle synchronic way. The function is an option. If you don’t have ManualGuide, then it’s very likely that this option is also not active either.

    G51.2 (G251) P_Q_;
    P,Q: turning relation between spindle and
    Y--axis
    Area defined: Number from 1-9 for
    P and for Q
    With a positive Q, the Y axis turns in a positive direction
    With a negative Q, the Y axis turns in a negative direction

    G51.2 P1 Q3 (Polygonal turning ON)

    G50.2(G250);

    When G50.2 is set, the synchronisation of spindle and Y axis is cancelled, and the Y axis stops.

    Hello

    Yes, of course if
    - The machine is fitted with a C axis.
    - The OPTION G112 (G12.1) is installed
    - Kind regards
