Is there a possibility to define the machining boundaries with the Siemens 840D?
We mill deep contours where we sometimes only weld the wear areas.
There is a program for roughing and one for finishing…

At the moment we create extra programs for each welded area. However the programmer is only working in the early shift.

I want to finish all areas with one complete program. My colleagues say it doesn’t work.
The Fidia controller was able to do that 12 years ago- so Siemens should be able to do it too.

Unfortunately the manual is missing and the last time I milled I 8 years ago.
I have learnt it but worked as a technician in measurement technology in the quality and are now helping out in the die industry for 3 months.

I can read.. but I don’t quite understand what you plan to do...

Weld wear areas?... on a milling machine?...some with deep contours?

Do you want process different contours ( sub programs) after each other?

What did the Fidia controller 12 years ago, that you cant do with the Sinumerik 840D?

Do you only have one guy that can program? (then he should do it)
