Quotes are significantly higher than several US dollars but as you rightly say that is to be expected (and it's also within the budget allocated for this part) as the part will require numerous setups and because of the choice of material, however on the plus side programming time should be short - easily less than one hour.

Also within the next few weeks we will also have two other similar designs that will need to be manufactured , they are similar but slightly more involved.

The 45 day lead time is going to be tough. 4000 parts at just 5 minutes each, to saw, machine, deburr, pack & ship, is 20,000 minutes, or 333.33 hrs, which = 41.6 days at 8 hrs a day. Is the lead time critical?

This job has now been awarded (to an American shop). Thanks for your quotes.

For the reference of the numerous people who have asked:

The price quoted by the shop awarded with this job was $42,104 (USD), which was slightly below the average quote price.

Freestyle CNC has just read that you granted another job shop te 4,000 piece quote for 42,000 us dollars, as our quote was 35,000 us dollars and guaranteed delivery date that was needed, may we ask why your decision was made for the other shop, as this is a competived buisness and we would like feedback why we did not get this job.
    thanks

    Hi,
Our basic business policy is to award contracts to vendors who quote around the average rate, perhaps just below average. Unfortunately when we have awarded jobs to vendors who have quoted substantially lower than the average price, based on past experience corners are cut and/or the job isn’t done correctly (not that I’m saying that’s the case with you in the slightest!) resulting in delays and extra expense.

Someone is gonna make good change on that job.

Freestyle= We were in the same price range. And I thought I would make a decent rate on it also. Win some lose some.
