Trying to buy a CNC milling machine/ VMC

    Hello all,

First, I have to say "thank you" to the forum management and all the great contributors to this great forum.

I am trying to get some advices/suggestion on what to buy...

Should I buy a NEW Tormach 1100 with Auto Tool Changer (22,558USD): PCNC 1100 "Part Maker" Package (includes ATC)

Or a USED Fadal 3016 at 16,000USD as found in Used Fadal CNC Vertical Machining Center VMC 3016 No. 4006 | Beta Die Casting Equipment
    Thanks,
    CuongV

I would go with the Fadal only because Im not too familiar with the Tormach. Good Luck.

Thanks Jade. I see that the Fadal has much more power. The only thing is that it is used. I really need advices on buying used CNC machines. I hope you and/or someone can help.

    Thanks

Unfortunately, I am not able to advise you, any further than a personal opinion, on how to buy used CNC machines. Our expertise is with the components inside machines, such as servo motors, drives, etc. I hope many others on this forum can provide you with the information that you are looking for. Good luck!

    Tkamsker,

I guess you mean Total Cost Ownership. You are so right, I also need advice on what equipment to buy.

    I currently have:
1/ An Optimum BF 20 (Optimum Maschinen: BF20 Vario / BF20 L Vario) that I have converted partially to CNC.
    2/ A mini lathe, manual.
3/ A Hobart Welding Machine (auto wire feed).
    4/ A band saw.
    5/ A Plasma Cutting Machine.
    6/ A 3D printer.
    7/ A 3D scanner.
    8/ Mach 3.
    9/ Solidworks.

I am slowly equip my workshop for metal fabrication (aluminum and steel). The idea is to save money by only buying what is necessary and take advantage of my own labor/design to make some tools or part of equipment myself (like making a frame/table for CNC plasma cutting machine,...).

I have many idea on making tools and machines. I think I need advices from many of you here before I spend money to buy more equipment.

    Thank you for all helps.

I've just found this GT Xpress / Prodigy CNC Turning Center ( Lathe ) (GT Xpress Prodigy CNC Turning Center Lathe | eBay). It seems very nice but don't know the cost yet.

Re: Trying to buy a CNC milling machine/ VMC

My parts is mostly sized within 24"x10"x2" for the CNC milling machine/VMC; Big parts as large as 5'x3'x1/2" will be for the CNC plasma cutter. The accuracy is more important than production time.
