I have a 2.2 kw chinese spindle for my CNC router and I'd like to stop using cresent wrenches to change bits. The nut seems to be 29.85 MM and the shaft 21.51 MM and trying to use 30 and 22 mm wrenches seems pretty sloppy. Anyone come up with a solution for this?

Hi,

30 and 22mm wenches are OK. Some play is normal and even desirable because it makes it easier to insert the wench.
Both nut as well as shaft are quite hard - you should not be able to damage them.

But if you want perfect fitting tools just buy the wenches one size smaller and grind them until they fit as desired.

You can also buy a castle nut to replace the hex nut. That will allow to switch to a spanner wrench for the nut.
