    BobCAM vs. V27

When is BobCAM V5 (V27 equivalent) out? Getting some emails about upgrading to V4 but it is pointless as they are already on V27 which is a version ahead, not much point upgrading as its a full version behind.

I was under the impression that v4 is v27. The sw version just got it before the standalone guys..

Maybe someone from bc can correct me if im wrong...

I am also under the impression that V4 was ahead of V27 as far as CAM enhancements go. The only things I'm aware of that V27 has that V4 doesn't is all on the CAD side. I would also like some correction if I'm wrong.

Yes it runs in SolidWorks. I am just trying to determine if V4 is ahead or behind V27 in terms of CAM capability? Gonna see if there is a demo now. I'm a bit cagey about installing a demo on top of the V3 already installed

Looks like V4 Demo to me, have you tried at this web page BobCAM for SOLIDWORKS V4 CAM Modules Released | BobCAD-CAM

I didn`t download it as I don`t have Solidworks to evaluate it with but it does look to be a V4 download to me

I downloaded the lathe software as that is what I am most interested in as it has a lot of changes. However the download was V2 build 676.

Yes, it IS V27, so to speak. If you follow the link that the engine guy posted, you can see "what's new", which are all the features we just upgraded to......

Although, I cant speak to the lathe, that you just stated that you are interested in.......

As far as installations, I'm not sure on that part either. I know the standalone app is OK with it and keeps good separate installs, But the solidworks integration may be different? I think Al works a lot with the solidworks guys, so he should answer definitively...

Looking at the brochure, it looks like your getting some enhancements from V26 and V27 altogether in V4. The lathe got a lot of work in V26 and maybe in V27 as well.

So, I have purchased V4 lathe. Just need to figure out the installation so it works alongside V3 Mill Pro and should be good to go.
