    Tree or Anilam?

I have been looking to buy a cnc mill for my home shop. I have my eye on a Tree Journeyman 325 and knee mill with an Anilam 3200mk (2 axis) . The Tree is in pretty good shape , the electrical is in excellent shape, it looks like it came from the factory ( clean and unmolested) . The ways are dirty and have some surface rust , but all in all not a bad machine . I can get it for a pretty good price. The Knee mill is in better shape ,costs a little more , only 2 axis ( that's not a huge difference to me) . I also have a somewhat local service tech. What is the forums opinion on the 2 . Thanks for any input ,

The anilam will be a retrofit since they only made controls. Tree actually put anilams on some, and called them a millinion or some thing. The tree will blow away a std knee mill. 6k rpm spindle usually, cat 40 tooling with pneumatic draw bar, and everything else is much heavier built. 3 axis is a must nowadays, don't kid yourself. The Tree was most likely built in ZPS eastern Europe. They know how to fit iron, and use a lot of it. Parts and service has not been an issue yet for the tree or control.

I agree, the Tree a is very good machine. You can still buy some new parts for it and they still can service your machine although through private entity.
For what it's worth, Tree made very good solid machines that can last a lifetime if properly maintained.
