    Axis are not moving

    Hi All,

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here because I followed the steps in the video but nothing is moving. I have EMC Linux working and I can get everything to move as expected with it but I wanted to give this a try since it runs in Windows and there is so much more available.

The Estop is not the problem as that is explained well in the videos. Any ideas? It's probably something simple I'm missing but in the meantime it's giving me a headache and I guess I'll just continue Learning EMC.

Are the DRo's on the screen moving? If so, make sure the port settings are correct for all the pins.

Thanks for the reply Gerry. The DROs were not running at first but I figured that out. I've actually been able to get the motors to run intermittantly and only after a reboot without running any other software, but they were not smooth at all compared to how well they run on EMC. I am using AVG antivirus but I did the driver test and the noise showing up was minimal. I'm going to play with this some more to see if I can determine what is interferring with this.

Here's a little info on the system and OS

    P4 775 socket 2.8 Ghz 800mhz FSB
    1 meg ram
    XP Pro
AVG anitvirus firewall only on router
Gecko 201 driving Slo Syn motors

If your nework card is set to auto pick speed, that can cause a problem Set it to a fixed speed. I'd turn off the AVG, too. Also, quicktime will cause problems.

If you can't figure it out, there is an XP optimisation list, but it should really only be used as a last resort. http://www.machsupport.com/optimisation%20XP.txt

Thanks for your help and I have them running well now as far as smooth and I think faster than I'm able to get them to run with EMC. Of course, I just got it going so I'll have to play with it for a while, but that's half the fun for me.

I'm not sure if it was the network card but it was set to auto, but I also had to take the step pulse and direction pulse up to 5 to get it to run smoothly.

There are just too many people here thrilled with Mach 3 for me not to give it a try.
