    QC toolpost problems

    Hi,

I have a small lathe with a dixon type QC toolpost of size 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" x 1 1/2", with no tool holders. From looking around on the net these look suitable.

Does anyone here use this type of QC toolpost?

the toolpost itself is in reasonable shape, but has some surface rust, is this going to be a problem? For £20 extra i can get a new toolpost as well, im just wondering if its worth it?

I use similar tool holders....the surface rust won't hurt you...sand, scrape, or use one of the rust neutralizing products.

Rust Oleum is one.....I believe that most Home Improvement stores have other brands.

Thanks for the help. In the end i went for the new toolpost, as it included the wrenches etc, which would be useful to have. I figure i can sell the old one on ebay, as it has cleaned up quite nicely.
