Re: Tool Compensation Radius Value Question

your key words are radius of the tool this means that the print dim. minus the actual dim. is .006/2 =.003 and .004-.003 is .001

Re: Tool Compensation Radius Value Question

In the real world, be aware that some machines express this in radius, and some in diameter. Depending upon the controller, it may even be able to be changed to one or the other via parameter.Just wanted to mention this for when you get a job to not just assume that it's always radius without checking the manual for the particular machine you'll be running. I'm assuming for your question, however, that your instructor is using radius. In this case, rcs60 is correct. You need this feature to be .006 larger, which is .003/side. Expressed in radius, you need .003 more taken off (minus signed value), so as he said, .004-.003 = .001.
