    Citizen l720 VIII Rotary tool holder T10 T11 T12 X Y Axis

    Hello,
I am having an issue with our Citizen L720 that seems a little strange. When I call up T10,11, or 12 (Rotary holder) the X an Y axis's switch. In other words the Y axis moves the rack up and down instead of the X axis.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening?.

I am thinking I may have the wrong tooling pattern selected.

Any help would be much appreciated.

You have 2 options for the 10-12 holders: Face working or Side working. If side working, then this would be the correct configuration. If you are face working then you would probably still want the X to be vertical.
This can be switched in the Prep page in the 4rd column labeled "Type" (i think). (its the column that is not Core, Diameter, or Longitude). Try changing the type. My guess is there is an option for face working or side working.

You can also use G140 arbitrary axis reassignment. You could do something like:
    T1010
    G140 X=X1 Y=Y1

When cross working is selected for your tool type, Citizen issues an internal (background) G140 X=Y1 Y=X1 to swap the axies. This was done so that if the tools are set up for side working, you dont have to program those tools in Y (if you wanted to drill a cross hole for example).

YOu can also assign any axis, so you could do G140 Z=X2 if you felt like it, but why you would ever do that I cant imagine.
    G141 cancels all G140 reassignments, or you can command G140 X=X1 Y=Y1 Z=Z1 ect...

The tooling pattern you have selected in the mc data page is for drilling 45 degree crossholes. The axies are opposite and synced together. You need to find out the # on your gang configuration and enter it into the mc data page. Not sure what it is but I can check on it tomorrow for you, if I don't forget. A position point on Tool#1 (cutoff) will reset the axies back to normal.
