I am trying to replace my threaded drawbar with a gripper type for easier automation down the road. My spindle is machined for an NMTB 40 holder, which gives me some room at the top to work, but not as much as I would like. I am trying to avoid any modification to the actual spindle. Right now I do not know the OD dimensions of the spindle, so I don't know if I can afford to remove material anywhere. Do you think these grippers would hold up? I am mostly concerned about the .070" thick and .050" grip width area. This is a 7.5hp machine. Spends most of its time at 5k rpm (max).
This will not be a belleville washer type drawbar. I will get into that later.
