Hello everyone. I decided to buy my first VMC recently. I found a 1993 Hurco BMC 20 with Ultimax III controller (dual screen). I saw the machine operational before I bought it. A month later I got it moved into my garage. I had to remove the Z axis motor to get it in the door. A few weeks later I got my RPC in and everything hooked up. The machine powers up but doesn't boot from the HD. I have to insert the floppy. It looks to me the machine has forgotten its parameters by the looks of the machine configuration screen and I am getting an error message. Below is what is displayed on the screen.

INTERNAL MOTION CTRL ERROR ON AXIS X,Y,Z,S, CODE 7

Sometimes it gives the same error but "CODE 9" instead. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would really like to see this thing run and start messing with it.

Sound like you lost the bios battery, starting from floppy can be bad, as that's how you re load the hard drive. Hurco can send the bios settings.

well first thing you're going to have to get ahold of a hurco tech to reset the z , otherwise you will crash the tool changer when you go to do a tool change ! second when the machine boots you should see if the bio is seeing the hd . you should have disks with the last good config backed up on it . I would make sure it is seeing the hard drive and get that to work maybe either the data cable is loose or the power cable is .
