Lathe insert tool holder size question

I have tried finding information and it all gets a little confusing. I purchase some inserts:

    VCGT 160404FN-ALU AK10

For making some poly v pulleys but the holder I ordered is smaller than these inserts. Purchased the tool holder from shars, it's the correct shank for my tool post and correct shape "V" for the insert but the insert is bigger.

I have a 1/2" tool post and am trying to find out if I can buy a 1/2" holder for the inserts I listed above.

Thanks for any helps guys, really is confusing!

Re: Lathe insert tool holder size question

You may not be able to find a holder for that insert in the 1/2" shank you want. You can get a 3/4" possibly then cut it down to 1/2 for your tool post though. Typically if you cut off the bottom of the square shank then the centerline location will be maintained.
