    Plow through wall

Why does the cutter plow through the wall ?
I am pocketing these letters. you can see where the cutter plows through the wall
As far as I can tell the curves are closed.

    ANSWER

edit note. Joakim " cut link distance must be set lower than the diameter of the bit". Find this pop up in Cutters under the tab Other.

    Please help thank you

    On a related note.

When I try to pocket these closed curves within the model if I choose them all routes through the walls.

But if I select them individually the toolpath is okay

I remember hearing about this problem.

I must have something set incorrectly please help

Take a look at the post called "Collisions in Simulation" just a couple below. Take a look at the video Sven posted. This might be helpful.

I really want this to work. It seems overly complicated.

Why do I even need a region curve? Why can't the cutter stay inside the curve to rout the pocket. A pocket is never two things, just one pocket.

These region curves are about as secure as the US border

Can you post the file? It does seem overly complicated. This should be easy.

What format for the file is best for this forum. I can email a rhino file if you can receive.

    <irony>Yeah, it's probably not a user problem.</irony>
You have already been asked to post the file and that it is the least you can do to get help here.

    Hi Ken,

I sent you an e-mail. Please send me the Rhino file and a description of the tooling you are using. I want to see if I can replicate your issues.

Also, some screen captures of your inputs would be helpful too.

    Thanks,

    Dan

    Re: Plow through wall

Joakim responded to me with an email.
His answer was as i suspected. I had a setting that was causing the cutter to plow through.

And so now the cutter stays inside the the lines. There are no region curves set.

Pretty good outcome. Some weirdness when the bit first enters the cut at the start of the M. I think this can be fixed by setting ramp to zero. It will get sanded away.
