    Mach mind of it's own

I've been using Mach for a Long time and one problem that has come up and cost me 1000's of dollars in lost material and time, is mach changing the set-up files. It has changed the numbers in the Motor tuning page and soft limits. Is their something I'm doing wrong. One day I cut these files on my router and a week later ran the same file and ruined all my work, the homing position changed and required me to reset-up the homing location.

Is their a way to lock the file that controls this?

Is this a licensed copy? Mach2 or mach3?

You could try making your .xml file read only. What version of mach3? You might want to upgrade, as I've never seen anyone post this problem on the Mach support groups.

Tried that, did not work. This has happend on 2 sperate machines. Maybe a upgrade to the lastest, my be a fix. Remember that this software is used everyday in a comercial setting. What we have been doing it checking the motor tuning page everytime we use Mach to make sure nothing changed.

Paul I remember seeing something like this on the Yahoo forum. If I were you, I would contact Art directly, but I think this was address in a newer version. I also remember that possible something running in the background could mess things up pretty good. I don't know what those things are though. I have been running my current version of Mach2 for two years without a hitch. I am just now starting the Mach3 changeover specifically because I didn't want to encounter any gremlins while trying to make a living with my machine.

These are not crack version of Mach, they are legal installed copies. I have always done the turn mach off and restart it with any changes as suggested by art. Is their another file other than the xml that can be set to read only?

If you're using an older version, there may be a bug. All the settings are in the .xml. If this happens on a daily basis, perhaps the .xml is read only and the settings aren't getting saved. Then make it NOT read only and see if that helps.
