Anilam 3000 Tool change Z height

Is there any way to set the tool length offset during a tool change on an Anilam 3000? I know that you can set up the tool length offsets in the tool table prior to executing a program but what about DURING a tool change? If I use an end mill in a collet or a drill bit in a chuck how can I set up the offset ahead of time. It seems that, during the tool change pause, I should just be able to insert my end mill into the R8 collet and then jog down and set the z length offset but I cant seem to figure out how to get the jog to work.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    multy tool in one holder

    hi todd

for putting meny tools in one holder
    for an example:
analam alows for 99 offsets in its tool settings menu
Most machines have onlt around 24 holders so there fore the other 75 are not used.

When calling tool 25- 99 it will bring down t0 and ask you to insert tool.

    So when setting tool
    1. call tool (25 assuming you have 24 holders + 0) this will bring down holder 0
    2. place tool in holder (I use a drill chuck ) i poke tool bit all the way in till it cant go up any further. (so it can be put back exactly )
    3. set tool in normal fashion. before job
    4. repeat 1-4 so that the tools required for the job ase set in offsets 25- 99
    5. run job using the appropriate offsets according to tool used
    6. on a side note. call tool then place m00 in the next line so that the program will wait for you to place appropiate tool and press go button

    program would read :
    t0 m6
    g0 z100 *to call holder
    m00
    t25 m6
m00 * insert tool set as t25 in offset
g0 z100 * insert program to run for this tool
    t26 m6
m00 * insert tool set as t26 in offset
    g0 z100
    m2

hope this can be of help

    Thanks for the reply.
So if I understand correctly, you set up all tools in the same holder BEFORE running the program by inserting the, say drill bits, all the way into the chuck and setting the offset as a different tool each time. Then when running the program and you call for a tool change you place the new bit into the same holder and place the bit all the way up into the chuck again thereby setting the bit in the exact same location as when you set the offset before before running the program?
What if the tool is too short to fit all the way into the chuck and register against the back of the chuck? For example if my first operation calls for a series of 12mm holes and my second operation calls for a series of 2mm holes. The 12 mm bit is large enough to fit all the way into the back of the chuck but the 2mm bit is not.

Thanks again for the reply. It is always interesting to hear how other people get things done and I was stuck on this one. I was using the slow process of using different programs for each machining operation. I hadn't thought of doing it that way.

    Thanks
    Todd

    tool change

    hi guys
In reply sorry it took so long to reply
when you call t25m6 the machining will bring down pocket 0 and pause for u to insert a tool when it is finished the operation it will ask you to remove the tool via manual tool change and insert new tool manually

and just use 2 or how many different holders
    eg :
    t25 = drill chuck with 12mm drill
t26 = col let chuck with 2mm drill
    t27 = 50mm drill through tool coolant
    t28 =

t25 and 26 will have offset done in program prior to program run

    in program
t25 m6 * machine will ask u to manually place tool in spindle

t26 m6 * machine will ask u to remove t25 and press start
    * machine will ask u to insert tool 26 and press start

t27 m6 *machine will ask to remove tool 26 and press start
*machine will ask to insert tool 27 and press start
so offset is for each tool in holder rather than for 1 holder with multiple drill bits
preset offset prior to running the program
