    punching 2mm thick galvanized steel?

I have to admid knowing not much about metalworking. I started a shop for PVC windows. These PVC profiles have U-channel steel inserts. At the location of the lock, the channels need to get a rectangular opening of about .75" x 1.5". As I don't have a kneemill or other apropiate metalwork machines, is there another approach, not involving additional investments? Is it possible to use a die to punch-press these holes?

Absolutely, what your talking about is a findings house, toolmakers. 2mm .08 thousands. Depending on the amount needed. Tool up is costly, stock material handling will NOT scare these people. After that it's 2 a second, reorders are encouraged. I wish i could show you. It's heavy automation. The cost... It's the cost!

    Sorry so vague.

    I am a toolroom foreman.
