Looking promising! I see you used the Lathe ini, any luck with the Mill ini?

I have been collecting info in another thread, but probably it would be better if I moved here to continue my Path Pilot 'education'.

Can anyone recommend a good tech forum for LinuxCNC?
A lot of LinuxCNC support is done on IRC channel #linuxcnc on irc.freenode.net.

Finally got my router working under PathPilot, just a couple changes to make to the tool change routines to suit my machine by so far so good. I am a happy man at this point. Oh, and this is via parallel port, not a Mesa card

    Race

Watched the video. I note that the only tab I could see when you showed the PP screen was MAIN. Are all the other tabs there just not showing for some reason.
OK I watched the video again and when you stopped the operation the rest of the tabs showed up.

Take a look at the PathPIlot launcher script. It's well written and easy to modify to remove that check... or just launch the LCNC GUI yourself and don't use the PathPilot launch scripts. Everything is in operator's home dir and runs out of the tmc softlink. The PathPilot launcher mainly adds functionality to flash the Mesa card and to handle deploying updates, neither of which you need.

Keep in mind that any updates you apply from Tormach will overwrite anything you do.

Hopefully, the modified files can be copied to a 'holding' area during updates and copied back afterward. I made modifications for the HAL and added 8 macros. I am going to move from 1.7.x to the latest ver, so I'll post back the results.

I'm a newbee to LinuxCNC, but si far I'm finding it to be quite impressive. As expected for an open source software, a little digging and a few searches turned up a world of cool stuff.

I am looking to try a linux cnc build with a mesa card and was wondering if any know what the spesc for the computer that Tormach sells are. Mostly interested in the motherboard processor and video specs. I assume that what they use works decently with the MESA card and has decent latency numbers. Thanks

If you are building your own PC and want fanless, I would suggest one of the J1800 or J1900 based MBs
    say a ASRock Q1900M PRO3 or ASUS J1800I-A if you want a Mini-ITX with a PCI slot

If you want a fast system with PCI,PCIE and Ethernet the known to work well with LinuxCNC with both RTAI and Preempt-RT
    I would suggest a ASRock H97M Pro4 and a G32XX CPU
