Can we talk burning on my cheapy laser?

Ok, I have leveled everything so I do cut constantly across the whole area (this is perk lol) My only remaining problem is I still have way to much burn around the cuts. I am cutting paper, cardstock and vellum. I think this thing shipped with a 50.8mm lens? Should I replace that with another? Or do I have some other problem that I can fix? I do have air assist and turning it up or down doesnt seem to effect the outcome much. I have tried a flat metal for cutting base, and one that has air space. Any input would be greatly appreciated. TIA

these don't come with 50mm lenses and i highly doubt you got a unique machine. at any rate i don't see how situation can change with different FL.
i did cut cardboard once (i mostly do acrylic) and i do remember it left some burnt resedue on edges i had to wipe. not sure if yu get excessive ammounts of it, but i don't see how this can be eliminated entirely - you are burning material away and there will by byproducts of it.

to minimize i would think you will need to focust the beam as good as you can. air assist you already have (how much air BTW?), perhaps there is a room to try encreasing your cutting speeds (while adjusting the power)
