Opinions and or reviews on cnc guitar instructional videos

    Hey everyone,

My buddy and me are kicking around the idea of making some guitars for fun/hobby purposes in his cnc shop on the weekends.

I’ve read about the CyborgCNC vids and the RMGreen vids. Anyone have any feedback or reviews/opinions on these? Is there any other existing or soon to be created vids in the works that I’m not aware of?

Thanks in advance for any comments/suggestions.

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

Which software are you using or will you purchase pending your decision?

I bought Cyborgcnc's (both Solidworks and Mastercam) and they have been great, especially since i had not used either product much before.

    Highly recommended.

    Cheers
    Glenn

    Thanks for your reply Glenn.

To answer your question about software... I’m not totally sure.

I’m very new to the world of CNC myself and own no software. I am positive I’ve heard Rick (the shop owner) mention both Solidworks and Mastercam. Not sure about the Vectric products though, I’ll have to check with him.

    Thanks again for your input!

    Mike

I'd like to give you my thoughts... Mastercam allows you to do just about everything. You can make a 3d model, create tool paths on the 3 d model and build you guitars.
I'm still learning and I already produce a ton of Fender templates. Tele's, Strats, P Bass, Jazz Bass, Jaguars, Jazzmaster....and a ton of accessories.
I recently bought a book on Learning to draw Solids...Good step by step instruction. The only thing missing is the next step....creating the tool paths.
So all in all, I vote for Mastercam.
I also have the Vetric Software Aspire. I've messed with it and it looks easier to learn. Although I'm stuck in MC, and really want to complete my learning of drawing and cutting solids, I'd still like to give it a try.
