Which laser to low cost to only cut the depron from 6 milimeter? Thanks
RedSail has seemed to be the best low cost lasers found by zone members thus far. Possibly the RedSail 3040A or other model.
More info please?
Im assuming depron is that foam stuff for building model aircraft?
What cutting area do you think you will need?
Here are two links.

Send a Private message or e-mail to zone member 'Leo Redsail' and Im sure he will give you some advice. You will find him on page '25' of the first link above.
Depron is for building model aircraft.
I would want only the head laser for my cnc pantograph.
It is possible to use a diode laser?
Thanks.
Hello ! A power 808 nm laser pump diode for DPSS laser is perhaps OK ... I never tried that ... but to cut Depron, you need at least 100 w/mm² ... see data sheet and compute !
No, I really think the most affordable solution is a CO2 laser (I think 20W + lens would be confortable). Cost : around 200 USD in China (just the tube). You have to add the power supply (may be you would do it yourself with a NST), the ZnSe lens and mirrors.

P.S. : it is to be verified how 808 nm acts on Depron. For processing, 10.6 micro-m is the best (CO2 lasers) or sometimes 1064 nm (YAG lasers)
SAFETY WARNING :
If you try with 808 nm (the same for 1064 nm (the most dangerous) and 10.6 micro-m) you MUST wear special goggles. The beam is inivisble and would otherwise destroy your eyes as quickly as the time to say it !!! Power lasers are very dangerous (classe IV) : eyes injury, flesh burning hazard, fire ... not a toy ! So before to use, be fully advised of all safety rules.
New !
I cut a Depron 3 mm piece with a 6W RMS CO2 laser (+ lens) very easily (see attached file). Only few smoke.
It would be possible to build a static cutting table with a vertical CO2 beam (like a vertical saw). You drive the Depron piece yourself through the beam. To avoid injury, it is necessary to use a 5 faces polycarbonate shield and safety goggles to prevent scattered beams and to keep fingers away from the beam ! Simple.
Nevertheless, the system must be carefully built. The laser is 8 kV powered and watercooled ... so beware of electrical hazard !!

Here is my products that I cut with my home built laser- http://airfoilz.com . I'm selling the mechanics if anyone is interested.
