    new here

    Hello I am new here trying to learn about cnc interested in trying to convert an old wood lathe to cnc any help would be greatly appreciated

    I don't see how that's going to work, Tad. With the exception of the spindle, wood lathes are entirely people-powered. There's nothing to automate. If you want to build a CNC lathe, start with an old metal lathe, which has screws that run a platform with the tool post mounted to it in two directions (or more).

    I built a 2 axis bit holder for my dads mini lathe. It bolted to the table in front of the lathe. The rails system will need to be pretty stout due to the tool needing to be cantilevered to get to the work.
