    Better lead-screws for Sherline lathe

Hello, everyone. I am looking for alternatives to using standard lead-screw with Sherline anti-backlash compensation nuts. They just don't work well for cnc. Still lots of backlash and very little ability to compensate.
Has anyone found any zero-backlash screws/nuts assemblies that would fit Sherline lathe bed and or cross-slide? Or anything else that works? If so, would someone share their findings?

    Jivetin,

I have a Sherline and have had these desires a few times. There was a guy on EBay for a while that did some form of work but he isnt interested anymore. I did however get to talk to him at length. He claims to have done some work on Luiz Ally's (aka Tryally on Youtube) machines.

I did order some Haydon Kerk screws on EBay. They are claimed to be 6mm but appear to be a 1/4-20 with a Kerkote coating. They did come with anti backlash nuts and I would like to use them. I just dont see how to create room for them. My plan is use Moglice and cast the screw into the cross slide. I ordered a screw and nut repair kit today. $57.00. Skip the cleaner as it has a Hazmat issue. Acetone will work just as well. Should be fun. Most of the posts (just a few available) claim .001 or less when done. Extremely durable.
A lazy man does it twice.

Try these guys at Helix Linear Helix Linear Technologies. We used them on a few projects for our clients and they performed very well.
