I have a CNC router from Romaxx link below. I am looking to cut close cell gray foam like you would find in a pelican case, does anyone make anything to use with a regular cnc router or do i need to just track down some long end mills.

It's more common to use hot wire or knife cutting for foam, if you want to re-produce the same shape ( peaks and valleys ) like those foam cases it's done with a knife in between two pin rollers, called Convoluted Foam

Thanks for the info... I guess i need to look into making a hot wire machine since i really don't want to chance a fire in my laser machine. Got any suggestions for DIY kits?

For a hot wire cutter you basically need 3 things nichrome wire, an ac power transformer, and some mounting brackets, for all my hot wire needs I use these guys, Products for Industry, Laboratories and Hobbies

Normally with most cnc hot wire cutters the wire is horizontal, but I have rigged up stuff for a cnc router with the wire vertical, and did the cutting off the cnc router in front


Have no worries you can burn your place down to the ground just as good with a hot wire cutter (flame2)
