Hi guys.
Complete noob here.
I am trying to figure out using an xLTransfer to back up parameters from a fanuc oi-pb controller. How do i go about doing that?
I see there is a memory card slot that reads cnm1b and few rs232 ports( i have never seen rs232 ports like these).
Could some one please help me back up all parameters from this controller?
Which memory card should i use for this particular slot? Will a regular pc card be compatible?

Sorry if this topic has already been posted. I just did not know where to start so need guidance on it.

Do you know if the 0i-pb series that i have can connect through rs232 or not? I have attached the picture i took inside the breaker cabinet. I do see a r232 port but i dont know what that is for?
Please take a look at it and advise

Hi,

There is a 25-pin RS232 port on the front side of your machine and maybe a Compact Flash on the left side of the screen.
Don't use the cabinet connectors.

I looked everywhere around the machine and there is no rs232 port. Also the only place i could find the memory slot was inside the cabinet!!

Just curious... where does the JD5A (RS232-1) go?

I have not really traced it yet. but i am thinking it goes to the PC that we have that we use to copy files into the controller. Also, the connection reads R232. Would it be same as RS232? It is also a strange port that i have not seen before!

So you already have a PC hooked up to this machine for program transfer? You should be able to use that to back up most of your parameters, etc.

The 0i Mate-Model B Connection Manual (Hardware), B-63833EN/03 is an important one for your cnc.
Look for the layout on page 2 and for the PC - connection on page 275.
Use the search-function in your PDF-reader for RS232 and PCMCIA info.

Like i said, this is my first time dealing with any cnc machine and my first thing to do was to back up parameter data from these machines.
I am still working on a Bosch controller( i have no idea what version it is, nor do i know how to figure that out).
Can i post Bosch related questions on this forum?
