    G0704 motor upgrade need help

I've got a g0704 that I'm trying to upgrade the motor on. I've been researching for days but cannot find the details I'm looking for. I have a motor and controller that I pulled off of a treadmill. I need to know if I can some how connect a pot to my controller, since the one that is with it is I guess digital. Or if a kb board is what I need, and what size hp resistor I would need to go with. I've Googled the numbers on the motor but I cannot find an amperage rating for it. Here are some pics of what I'm working with any help is greatly appreciated.Click image for larger version.

Actually I think I found somewhere it was 16amps. Not 100% sure about that.

A kbic or kbmm controller will work quite nicely with that motor.
Resistors and fuses needed are listed here.\

A 125 or 240? Should I run it at the 130v for 2.75hp or just keep it at 2hp with 90v?

Run it at 90 - 100 vdc, that's the continuous rating on 120 vac supply, the pots on the kb boards can allow the output of over 100 vdc from 120 vac there's no reason to run at 240 vac.

Sounds good thanks a lot. On your projects page it has suggestions for an 1100w 1 1/2hp. This one is 2hp at 100v and 1400w so should I just get the 2hp resistor and the 2 25a fuses?

If you are using the kbmm, I know that you can download the manuals on the KB Electronics webpage.

There is a chart for resistor and fuse size.

Re: G0704 motor upgrade need help

Which would be the better option? The kbmm or kbic? Or are they pretty much the same? Well, the only resistors I found would only go up to 1 1/2hp on the 110v board . I'm just trying to get the most out of this motor safely. Which is why I was considering going with the 220v route to run it at 2hp. But if they're wouldn't be a noticeable increase in power between the two or much benifit then I will just stick with the 110v route hoss suggested. Again thank you all for your help.

If you have 220v easily available, I'd go that route. Most of the time its always more efficient to run the higher voltage from a power standpoint.

When you are ultimately working with a DC motor and a 110v control will output the 120vdc max that the motor is rated for, I would go 110v for the flexibility.
