    home/limit switch questions

The application eng. at Dmm said the home- limit switch would be located in the center of the travel of the table then the pc/breakout board limit the travel by counting. I was wondering if the count failed or programing error what would stop table motion. with no hard stop switches at the limits of travel a stop failure would be a disaster. any ideas ? thanks Chris

    Re: home/limit switch questions

Hard limits at the end of travel is the norm. Depending on your machine, one switch on each end of travel or one switch in the middle that gets triggered with trip blocks on each end will work. Soft limits within your travel limits will prevent you from jogging into the switches. Not sure what machine controller you are using but it should be configurable for homing and limits..
